4th Music Trail Night of Making Music at Home on 24th November 2018 with European Guests

A special way that citizens of Leipzig practice culture can be seen in the Music Trail Night of Making Music at Home. Making home-music has a long tradition in Leipzig. Over 60 private homes and other unusual locations, such as lawyer’s offices, hairdressers and other shops will hold small concerts. 400 voluntary musicians will take part (amateurs, music school pupils and music students, families, professional musicians). The Notenspur Leipzig helds each year a Night of Home Music.
We would like to share with the citizens of our partner countries a special way in which Leipzig citizens practice culture. This is called the Music Trail Night of Making Music in the Home. Since 2015 the event has grown and is now the world’s biggest event of making music in the home. The music cityf Leipzig has its roots in private music making. Without music in homes and families, there would be no first class ensembles like St. Thomas Choir or Gewandhaus Orchestra. During the Night of Making Music in the Home, citizens invite others into their private rooms to share their love of music with friends and unknown guests. Not only will musicians living in Leipzig contribute to the 4th Music Trail Night of Making Music in the Homes, but also guests from other European countries. November 2018 is also the commemoration of the end of the First World War. When Leipzig citizens open up their homes to share their love of music this will be a strong message of reconciliation and the connecting power of music.

Both artists and citizens from Lithuania and Norway and from Leipzig’s twin cities have been invited.
